A friend of mine was fond of drawing horses. He drew the horses very well, but he always began at the tail. Now it is the Western rule to begin at the head of the horse, which is why I was surprised. It struck me that it could not really make any difference whether the artist begins at the

head or the tail or the belly(肚子)or the foot of the horse, if he really knows his business. And

most great artists who really know their business do not follow other people' s rule. They make

their own rules. Every one of them does his work in a way peculiar(奇特的) to himself, and the

peculiarity means only that he finds it easier to work in that way.

Now the very same thing is tree to literature (文学). And the question, \"How shall I begin? only means that you want to begin at the head instead of beginning at the tail or somewhere else. That is, you are not yet experienced(有经验的) enough to trust to your own powers. When you become more experienced you will never ask the question, and I think that you will often begin at the tail that is to say, you will write the end of the story before you have

even thought of the beginning.

When you jump, gravity pulls you down. When you throw a ball up, gravity pulls it down. When you sit, gravity holds you down. When you lie down, gravity holds you to the bed. We know gravity is everywhere even though we can' t see it. We know it pulls on every stone, every drop of water. It pulls on everything.

Gravity of the earth pulls everything towards the centre of the earth. You know this when you

try to lift a heavy stone. Gravity pulls it down. The more the stone weighs, the more the gravitation force pulls on it. To lift up a stone, you must pull it up harder than gravity pulls it down.

The earth has gravity and the moon also has gravity. The moon has less gravity than the earth. This means that the moon's gravity does not pull as hard as the earth's gravity.

Do you weigh 60 kilograms? That means the pull of the earth' s gravity on you is 60 kilograms. If you were on the moon, you would weigh only 10 kilograms.

What do people do with their old, perfectly usable but outdated computers? Most people don't know what to do with them. Many old computers end up gathering dust in homes. Many more are simply thrown out with the trash.

Finally, some companies are thinking of ways to reduce the amount of computer junk. Sony has agreed to help recycle old Sony products. Dell, Hewlett -Packard and others now also take back some equipment.

Laws are being passed, too. In Europe, computer companies will have to pay for collecting and recycling their used products. And 70 per cent of computer waste must be recycled. The idea behind the laws is that computer companies themselves should pay the cost. That will encourage them to design equipment that is easier and cheaper to repair and upgrade.

Yet while many people are throwing away good computers, others cannot afford them at all. Hundreds of organizations are working to solve this problem. These groups collect and repair old

computers. Some also teach computer repair skills.

The computers then go to schools, charities (慈善团体) and needy individuals. Giving a used computer to one of these organizations can turn one person' s trash into someone else' s treasure and cut down on waste, too. 根据短文内容,判断下列句子正(T)、误(F)
